Cirrus now has an option for Deicing. Kelly Aerospace Thermal Systems has submitted an STC for Thermawing on the SR22. Thermawing is a thermoelectric deice system that has brought tomorrows technology today. Thermawing is the first all electric ice protection system using a graphite Thermafoil technology. The flexible graphite foil allows for instantaneous temperature rise and cool. The ultra thin laminate construction of the graphite can tolerate for installation on almost any surface or composite. Our parting strip and shed zone concept virtually eliminates runback. The digital controller automatically operates shedding cycles for 'set and forget' safety. A 70 Volt 100 Amp alternator mounted on an auxiliary pad off the engine powers the deice system. |
Already STC’d on the SR22 is the Kelly Aerospace Thermal Systems Propeller De-Ice kit is a complete thermoelectric system that runs exclusively off of the aircrafts electric bus. Because the unit is electric, there is no cost to maintain the system. De-icing of the propeller is completed in less than 90 seconds with the push of a button. The system weighs only 4.9 pounds and requires 15-17 Amps |
